To all to whom these presents shall Come William Reeves Junr of Edgecombe County in sd province planter in the name of our Lord God Everlasting send Greeting Know Ye that I the sd Wm Reeves for and in Consideration of the sum of Two Hundred eighty pounds current money of the sd. province to me in hand paid by John Baldwin of the sd County & province planter the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge & myself fully satisfied and for divers other good causes & considerations and hereunto moving, have agreed, bargained, sold, aliened, Enfeoffed & confirmed, & by these presents Do bargain, sell, alien, Enfeoff & confirm unto the sd John Baldwin his heirs & Assigns for ever Two plantations & a Tract of Land containing by Estimation Two hundred & fifty Acres be the same more or Less, Lying & being in the County & province afsd on a place known by the name of Great Creek on the South side of Morratoke River it being the plantation where the sd John Baldwin & William Baker now Dwells; beginning at a Hickory on the So side of Great Creek so along a Line of marked trees to a poplar a corner tree between him & John Spann so along a Line of Marked trees to a red oak a Dividing Line between the sd Baldwin & Paul Harralson so along a various line of marked trees to a sweet gum on Great Creek so down the great Creek to the first station it being the Lower part of a Tract of Land granted to the said William Reeves Junr for four hundred acres by patent dated the 7th of June 1739, to the use & behoof of him the sd Jno Baldwin his heirs & Assigns forever Together with all woods, underwoods, rights, priviledges & immunities unto the same belonging or in any wise appertaining To have & to hold the said plantations & tract of Land unto the sd Baldwin his heirs & Assigns forever and I the sd Wm Reeves Junr for myself my heirs Exors or Admins Do further promise covenant & agree to & with the sd John Baldwin his heirs Exors Admors & Assigns by these presents that the sd Baldwin his heirs Exors and Admors shall & may peaceably & Quietly have hold use occupy possess & enjoy the sd Land & plantations & all & singular the rights priviledges & immunities forever without Lot (sic ?) trouble or Molestation of or from me the sd Wm Reeves my heirs Exors or Admors on of or from any other person or persons whomsoever claiming by or under me or them or any or either of them And the said William Reeves Junr do for myself my heirs Exors and Admrs the said plantations & Tract of Land warrant that the said Land is free & clear from all former or other Sales, Gifts, grants, mortgages, Rents & arrearages of Rents & incumbrances whatsoever, & will the same Defend against all or any person or persons whatsoever, claiming any right title or interest of unto or any part thereof & will at all or any time or times hereafter Do any such further or other Lawful Act or Acts thing or things for confirming & sure making of said plantations & Tract of Land unto the sd Baldwin or his Attorney Learned in the Law. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & seal this 23rd day of October Anno Dom 1740.
