James Howel        }       This Indenture made the 14th day of January in the year of our Lord 1764, Between Wm. Reeves, Jr. of the cty. Of Johnston, and province of No. Carolina, of the one part and James Howel of the county & province aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth, that the said Wm. Reeves Jr. for and in consideration of the sum of 50 pounds Virginia money to him in hand paid by the said James Howel before the sealing and delivery of these presents. The receipt whereof he doth hereby acknowledge, and hereby doth acquit, exonerate and discharge the said James Howel, his heirs Exers. Adminrs and by these presents have granted, bargained, sold, aliened, released and confirmed and by these presents doth grant, bargain, &c, &c, unto James Howel his heirs, Exetrs adminrs & assigns forever, one certain tract or parcel of land containing 100 acres, more or less, and bounded as follows, beginning at the said Reeves Persimmon tree, thence along his line to a hickory at the Ridge path, thence along a marked linen to the great path, thence along said line down the gut, to the mouth of the slash, thence up the slash, to a black gum thence along said line to a white oak, at the half way slash, thence up the slash along said line, to Reeves line thence along the line to the first station, with all houses, orchards, woods, &c and all commodities whatsoever to the said belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold, possess, and enjoy the said tract or parcel of land and every of its appurtenances to the said James Howel his heirs and assigns forever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said James Howel his heirs &c forever, and the said Wm. Reeves Jr. for himself, his heirs &c doth further covenant the said James Howel his heirs &c. the right and title of the said land and premises, he and they will warrant and defend by these presents against all manner of persons whatsoever unto the said James Howel, his heirs forever.
