This Indenture made this eighty day of July one thousand Eight hundred and two between Lewis Craig of Mason County and Elijah Reeves of Fleming County both of Kentucky of the one part, and Hamilton Reed of Fleming County and State aforesaid of the other part, Witnesseth that said Lewis Craig and Elijah Reeves for an in consideration of the Sum of three hundred pounds current money of the aforesaid State to them in hand paid by the Said Hamilton Reed the receipt whereof the Said Craig and Reeves doth hereby confess and acknowledge have bargained and Sold and do by these presents grant, bargain, Sell, alien and confirm unto the Said Hambleton Reed and his heirs forever one certain Tract or parcel of land containing by Survey one hundred and Sixty acres Situate lying and being in the aforesaid County of Fleming on both Sides of the main fork of Johnston, being a part of two thousand acres patented in the name of said Lewis Craig and bounded as follows to wit, Beginning at three dogwoods corner of James Dales, thence West one hundred and thirty and a half poles to a hickory and walnut, thence North one hundred and ninety Six poles four Links to the Beginning To Have and to hold the aforesaid one hundred and Sixty acres of Land with all the appurtenances to the Said Hambleton Reed and his heirs forever and the said Lewis Craig and Elijah Reeves for themselves their heirs Executors and administrators doth covenant and agree with him the Said Hambleton Reed and his heirs, that them the said Lewis Craig and Elijah Reeves and their heirs will and shall warrant and forever defend the Said above mentioned One hundred and Sixty acres of Land with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the Said Hambleton Reed and his heirs forever, from the Said Lewis Craig and Elijah Reeves and their heirs and all other person or persons Whatsoever claiming or prenting [sic pretending] to claim any right, title, or interest thereto in

I, Thomas Dougherty clerk of the Court of Quarter Sessions for the County aforesaid being Authorized by Law to receive and admit to Record in my Office “Deeds and other writings” Do Certify that the within Indenture of bargain and Sale from Lewis Craig and Elijah [Reeves omitted in original], to Hamilton Reed, was this day produced before me, and full proved, by the oaths of Spencer Reeves John Winn and John Carver the Subscribing Witnesses thereto and is duly Recorded in my Office.
                Given under my hand the 6th day of August AD 1802 and of the Commonwealth of Kentucky XL year.
