To all people to whom these presents shall come. I John Baxter Senior and Jane Baxter my wife do each of us give Greetings. Know ye that the said John and Jane Baxter of the State and District aforesaid for and in consideration of the love, good will and affection which we have and bear toward our loving children John Baxter Junr and Thomas Reeves who is married to our daughter Elizabeth Baxter have given and granted an by these presents do freely give and grant unto the said John Baxter Jr. and Thomas Reeves their heirs, Executors or administrators all the property, real or personal, that we are now in possession of consisting of said Negroes, Horses, -, plantation, tools, household furniture and all other property that we may be entitled to have a just claim to out of which they are to pay all our lawful Debts that we now owe and to have and to hold the remainder of the said property equally between them or their Heirs, Executors or administrators from henceforth and forever as their proper goods and chattles absolutely without any manner of condition whatsoever. The division of the property betwixt our said children to be made at the last of our death either by sale or by the valuation of men and then to be - to their - as they may think proper. In Witness Whereof we hereunto set our hands and seals this first day of June and year of our Lord one thousand Eight Hundred and thirteen, and in the thirty-seventh and thirty-eighth year of American Independence.
