Transcript

This Indenture made the twenty first day of August in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifteen between James Reeves of the one part and George Reeves of the County of Orange and State of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth that the said George Reeves for an in consideration of (sic) doth hereby acknowledge hath given granted bargained & Confirmed and these presents doth give grant bargain & confirm unto the said James Reeves his heirs and assigns forever a part or parcel of a Certain Tract of land Situate lying & being in the County of Orange butted & bounded as followeth To wit lying on both sides of the back Fork of Morgans Creek Begining at a Red Oak then South forty five & half chains to a post Oak thence West thirty five chains to a post Oak thence north Seventy & a half chains to a pine thence East thirty five chains to a Stake thence South Twenty six chains to the begining Containing by estimation Two hundred & forty Six & a half Acres be the same more or less it being a part of a Tract of Land granted to John Maseden (?) by the State of North Carolina by Deed being date the Seventeenth day of November One thousand Seven hundred & Ninety and also all Woods ways water Courses and all & every the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion & Reversions remainder & remainders Rents Issues & profits of the said lands and premises & every part thereof and all the Estate right title interest claim property & demand whatsoever of the said George Reeves of in and to the Lands and premises hereby Granted To have & to hold the aforesaid Land & premises with the appurtenances to the said James Reeves his heirs & assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said James Reeves his heirs and assigns forever and the said George Reeves for himself & his heirs the aforesaid land & premises and every part thereof against him & his heirs & against the claim or claims of all & every other person or persons whatsoever to the said James Reeves his heirs & assigns shall & will warrant & forever defend by these presents In witness whereof the said George Reeves hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day & date above written ~
