Note From David Johnston to Sidney K. Reeves



Walton County, Georgia
August Term 1832

On or before the 25th of December next I promise to pay Sidney K. Reeves or bearer forty dollars for value rec’d this (blank) April 1832

The note had a credit for twelve dollars endorsed on the back of it.

Personally appeared before me Sidney K. Reaves who being duly sworn deposeth & saith that he had in his possession the original note of which the above is in substance a copy with a credit thereon endorsed for twelve dollars & deponent further says that said note has been lost or mislaid so that he cannot find it.

It appearing to the Court that the original of the foregoing Copy note has been lost or mislaid out of the possession of Sidney K. Reaves

It is therefore ordered that said copy be established in lieu of the said lost original at the next term of this Court unless good cause be shown to the Contrary by David Johnston.
