The Heirs of Joseph Doughton Deceased to C H Daughton 174 acres
This Indenture made this 14th September in the year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred and thirty two by and between George Doughton, Grace Doughton, George Reves & Jesse Doughton & Rosamond Doughton of the County of Ashe and State of North Carolina & John McGimsey of Murry County and State of Tennessee & David Cox & Denny Robinson of Grayson County and State of Virginia heirs of Joseph Doughton Deceased of the one part, and Charles Doughton of Ashe County and State of North Carolina of the other part Witnesseth, that the Sd. Polly Doughton, George Doughton, George Reves, Grace Doughton, John McGimsey, Denny Robinson, Jesse Doughton & Rosamond Doughton --- heirs for and in consideration of the Sum of five hundred & to them in hand paid by the said Doughton, the receipt whereof the said Polly Doughton, David Cox, George Doughton, George Reves, Grace Doughton, John McGimsey & Denny Robinson, Jesse Doughton & Rosamond Doughton Said heirs doth acknowledge themselves therewith fully satisfied and paid, hath granted, bargained and Sold, and by these presents, doth grant, bargain, Sell, Convey & confirm with the Said Charles Doughton his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred and Seventy four acres be the Same more or less being in the County of Ashe and State of North Carolina, & part in Grayson County and State of Virginia Beginning at a white oak running East Sixteen poles to a Poplar, then North Sixty five degrees East fifty four poles to a Gum then South eighty five degrees East ninety two poles to a white oak, thence North thirty degrees East thirty two poles to a Dogwood, then North thirty W forty poles to a Cucumber, then North fourteen degrees East Eighty poles to a Cucumber to the mouth of Creek, thence North forty five degrees West Sixty eight poles to a Locust, then one hundred and eighteen poles to a Dogwood, then ten degrees West twenty two poles near the mouth of Tolivers Branch, then South twenty degrees W one hundred poles up Said Branch to a Cucumber, then west Seventy Six poles to a Black Walnut with the State line, thence South Sixteen poles to a Ash thence North twenty five degrees East with the fence to the Beginning, Together with every right, title, priviledge & emolument to the said land belonging, or in anywise appertaining, and they the Said George Doughton, George Reves, Grace Doughton, Jesse Doughton & Denny Robinson, David Cox and John McGimsey & Rosamond Doughton do bind themselves their heirs, Administrators & every of them well and truly to warrant and forever defend the aforesaid premises, with all the appurtenances to him the said Charles Doughton his heirs and assigns forever free and clear from all Just claims or incumberances (sic), whatsoever, In witness whereof we the Sd. George Doughton, George Reves, Grace Doughton, Jesse Doughton & Rosamond Doughton, John McGimsey & David Cox & Denny Robinson have hereunto Set our hands and Seals, day and date above written, Signed Sealed and delivered in presents of

            Ashe County           }             Cox & his wife Jane Cox, John McGimsey &
His wife Charity and acknowledged the within deed Sept. the 18th, 1833.

            Jane Cox the wife of David Cox, and Charity McGimsey the wife of John McGimsey being on this the 18th September 1833 examined Separately & separated & apart from their Husbands acknowledged the within deed to have been executed by them freely of their own accord and without the persuasion, threats, or influance (sic) of their Husbands let this deed be registered as to these parties

            Ashe County           }            Elizabeth Reves, and acknowledge the execution of the within deed whereupon Elizabeth Reves being examined by me separate and apart from her husband Vouching her free consent in making Sd. Deed acknowledged She executed it of her own free will & accord without the intimidation, persuasion or influance of her husband, let the deed be registered as to these parties,
                      September the 20th 1833.

            Ashe County           }             1834 the execution of the within deed was duly proven in open Court by the oath of James Maxwell one of the subscribing Witnesses and ordered to be registered.
