State of North Carolina    }    Court of Pleas & Quarter
Brunswick County              }    Sessions September Term 1838

To the worshipful the Justices of the County Court aforesaid. The Petition of Mary Reaves respectfully shows that some time in the month of may last George Reaves the husband of your Petitioner died intestate leaving considerable perishable property in said County consisting of crop sock & provisions out of which your Petitioner is entitled a year’s support for herself and family - The Prayer of your Petitioner is that Commissioners may be appointed to lay off and allot to your Petitioner out of the crop stock and provisions belonging to said estate a sufficiency for the support of herself & family for one year and make report thereof under their hands & seals to the next Term of this worshipful Court.
