This Indenture made this 22nd of October in the year of our Lord 1840 between Asher Reaves of the County of Cumberland and State of North Carolina of the one part and Jonas Reaves of the County of Johnston and State aforesaid of the other part - Witnesseth that the said Asher Reaves for and in consideration of the sum of Two hundred dollars to him in hand paid by the Said Jonas Reaves the receipt to which is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold unto the said Jonas Reaves a certain tract or parcel of Land in the county aforesaid on the head waters of Stony run, and bounded as follows, -
Beginning at a Stake in a pond and runs North 65 East 34 chains to a Stake thence North 25 West 47 Chains and 75 links to a post oak thence South 65 West 5 chains to a pine thence South 11 chains & 50 links to a Small Red oak thence West 27 chains and 50 links to a pine thence South 25 East 8 chains and 25 links to a pine thence South 70 West 25 links to a Stake thence South 20 East 18 chains to a gum at the run of Stony Run thence down the various courses of the said run about 17 chains and 50 links to a Maple thence South 20 West 28 chains and 40 link to a Stake thence North 70 East 19 chains and 64 links to a Stake in Asher Reaves’s line thence North 25 West to the Beginning - containing Two hundred and Six acres - - - To hold unto the said Jonas Reaves his heirs and assigns forever and the said Asher Reaves doth by these presents bind himself his heirs Executors Administrators to warrant and Secure and forever defend the right and title of the Said land unto the Said Jonas Reaves his heirs Executors Administrators and assigns free and clear from the lawful claim or claims of any person or persons whatsoever or whomsoever. -
In testimony whereof the Said Asher Reaves hath hereunto Set his hand and Seal the day and year above written. - - -
