Commentary

The street address of the New York Hotel is taken from an 1851 Street Directory available from Port Cities - Southampton at http://www.plimsoll.org/Southampton/streetdirectories/directory1851/directory1851.asp#10

The New Navy Lists for January 1851 and August 1851 list only a few officers named Reeve or Reeves. However it has not been possible to uniquely identify this individual. Both list show HMS Cambrian at Devonport (Plymouth, Devon), with no crew assigned.
