History

Green County was formed in 1792 becoming effective on the 1st day of January 1793 from parts of Lincoln and Nelson Counties. It was named in honor of General Nathaniel Greene, a Revolutionary War hero.

Modern Day Adjacent Counties

The County is bordered by LaRue County to the north, Taylor County on the northeast, Adair County on the southeast, Metcalfe County to the southwest and Hart County on the west.
