Chatham County

Know all men by these presents that I John Rives of the County & State aforesaid do hereby constitute and appoint James Headen of Talladega County & State of Alabama my true & lawful attorney for me and in my name to do all lawful acts & things for me ...ing in any manner my negro boy Henry & a certain sorrel horse with one ? & any other property which I may have in both or either of the Counties of Butler or Talladega State of Alabama which was in the possession of my son John Rives at the time of his death to sign my name in any instrument of writing or to do any other acts as far as I could do if I were personally present in order to procure the possession of said property.
In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand & seal this 11th day
of August 1835
