Transcript

Know all men by these presents that I Asa Reaves do gave (sic) unto John Sheubart Seven head of hogs two years old give pigs 6 months old, one occupant plantation on Blue Creek with the crop on it, which the said John Sheubart is to hold as his own part of my Estate, this September 8th 1845.                                                                                 Asa Reaves

Commentary

There are no extant probate records in Lauderdale County for Asa Reaves who appears to have died sometime after the 1860 census was taken. The three deeds executed on this date to his children Eliza and James in addition to son-in-law John Sheubart appear to have been bequests made in lieu of a will.
