Transcription

This Indenture made this 19th day of January in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and fifty between Benjamin F Reeves and Caroline Reeves of the County of Hancock and State of Indiana of the first part and Lorenzo Brown of the County of Madison and State of Indiana of the Second part Witnesseth that the said party of the first part for and in Consideration of the sum of Three hundred and Seventy Dollars to the said party of the first part by the party of the second part in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain sell Convey and Confirm unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever all the following described piece or parcel of land towit being the East half of the North East quarter of section No twenty seven (27) in Township Number Seventeen (17) North of Range Number Seven (7) east containing Eighty acres in the District of land subject to sale at Indianapolis Ia.
To have and to hold the above described premises with all the improvements and appurtenances to the same belonging to the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever, and the Said party of the first part for themselves and their heirs doth hereby Covenant with the said party of the second part and his heirs that he lawfully seized in fee of the premises aforesaid, that the premises are free and clear from all incumbrances whatsoever and that he will forever warrant and defend the same and the quiet and peaceable possession thereof together with the appurtenances to the same belonging unto the said party of the second part his heirs and assigns, against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.
In Witness whereof the said Benjamin F Reeves and Caroline Reeves his wife who hereby relinquishes her right of Dower to the above described premises hath hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.

Hancock County       ss. I Andrew D Childers one of the acting Justices of said County do hereby Certify that the above named Benjamin F Reeves came personally before me and acknowledged the foregoing instrument of writing to be their voluntary act and deed for the purposes therein mentioned. Also Caroline Reeves the above named wife of the said Benjamin F Reeves who being by me examined privately separate and apart from and without the hearing of her said husband and the full Contents and purport of the said Deed being by me made Known to her she acknowledged that she voluntarily executed the same of her own free will and accord or without any Coersion and Compulsion from her said husband. In Witness of which I hereunto set my hand and seal this 19th day of January A.D. 1850
