Hastings (Parish of St Mary Magdalene)

Hastings (Parish of St Mary Magdalene), Sussex

Location

St Mary Magdalene is one of a number of ancient parishes within the town of Hastings.

Parish Church

Although an ancient parish, the present building was erected during the 1850's on a new site. Its dedication reflects the name of the ancient parish. The church was no longer required bythe Anglican community in the 1980s and has since become a Greek Orthdox Church.

The former Parish (CofE) Church of St Mary Magdalene can be found here on Google Street View.

Parish Registers

Parish registers have been deposited with the East Sussex Register Office. Their holding of registers can be found in their Guide to Church and Cemetery Registers linked from The Keep Leaflets and Guidance Notes. The September 2015 edition of the Guide to Church and Cemetry Registers indicates the following holding of original registers
Baptisms	1852-1979
Marriages	1852-1979
Banns 1956-1980
Confirmations	1891-1975
Note this church and its regsiteres are included under the place name of St Leonards rather than Hastings.
