Narrative

Children of Thomas Hicks and Constance:
  1. Thomas Iverson Hicks, b. 1795
Thomas Hicks appears to have been unmarried when he was recorded in the North Carolina, State Census of 1784-1787 for his household only lists himself as does the 1790 Census. The 1800 census reflects his marriage to Constance and includes a male child under ten which is presumably his son Thomas and the two teenagers Lucy and Bennett Hester, his step-children, for whom he is guardian along with several other unknown adult persons besides himself and his wife.

From the records of the Granville County Court:
Nov 1792, Lucy and Bennett Hester, orphans of Robert Hester dec’d, are bound out to Thomas Hicks, bond is with John Pulliam and Robert Hicks. Granville County NC Court Minutes 17921795, pgs 31-22

Feb 1793, Thomas Hicks married to Constance, the widow of Robert Hester, and asks for her dower land. Granville County NC Court Minutes 17921795, pg 38
