  8. David M. Reeves, b. c1843

Given his origins in South Carolina, he may be David Reeves (age 16-26) recorded in Beaufort District, South Carolina in 1820. He appears to be married with on son under 10. However, a Mary Reeves appears in the census in 1830 and 1840 in the same location in later years which may be that David's widow. In 1850 there is a Mary Reeves who may be the same Mary Reeves, but the census gives her age as 70, which is much older than Mary in the 1830 and 1840 censuses. It's possible, although unlikely, that David was divorced and then moved to Alabama.

He may be a close relative of John Reeves of Barnwell County. A descendant of David and a descendant of John's probably son Charles B. Reeves are both members of DNA Group 5 and there are no other known Reeves in South Carolina from that group. Barnwell County and Beaufort County are next to one another.

There was a David Reaves who served in the Revolutionary War in a regiment known as the Upper Granville County Regiment. Although Granville County was technically abolished in 1769, it included what became Beaufort County. This is a possible candidate for this David's father and should be investigated further.

In 1849, John Splawn sold 200 acres and a fraction of land in Pike County to David Reeves. David then immediately mortgaged it to T. G. Boyd.

The 1850 census states all the children were born in Alabama, and David and Elizabeth were born in South Carolina. It may be that some of the older ones were born in Georgia, per later census records.
