Narrative

Names of Mother and Father as yet unknown. In the 1880 U.S. federal census, taken June 25th for enumeration district #96, Limestone County, Texas, William states that his parents are from Georgia and that he was also born in Georgia.

William was married by license to Mary Ellephan Hawkins on November 12, 1847 at Macon Co., AL. by Rev. Hugh Carmichael.

William J. Reeves, his wife Mary, and two children lived in Tallapoosa, AL in 1850. Between 1850 and 1854, they traveled through Mississippi and Louisiana to Lost Prairie, Texas. There, William was listed as a farmer. He served as a sergeant in Sweet's Regiment during the Civil War. He and Mary had 10 children.
