According to Oxford, St Mary Magdalen Parish records, "Richard, the sonne of Mr Timothie Rives, was baptized the iiiith of March 1622."

From Reliques of the Rives:
He matriculated at Hart Hall, Oxford, 7 November 1638, aged 15, as the "son of Timothy of Oxford (city) gent." (Foster), apparently the eldest son and named after Timothy Ryves' father. Hutchins is silent concerning him.
