Wiki Stats - End November 2020

The total number of pages in the Wiki (as at 1 December 2020) now stands at 10641 (previously 10591, 10500, 10365) an increase of 50 pages during the month. Of the total, 2040 pages (was 2035, 2012, 1968) begin with a number and are most probably a date related gleaning.     We currently have 4568 wiki pages categorised as "People", of which 4063 begin with the letter "R".

TRP User

November has been a little quieter than October with six prospective users completing the form to start the enrolment process and we ended the month with 456 user accounts registered in TRP.   We had three users successfully activated their accounts during the past month. We welcome to our community Diana C, Marc R and Janice H.

Whether you joined TRP recently or a while ago, if you have yet to do so, please set a meaningful name for yourself as described in First Steps - Part 1. It isn't difficult and only takes a couple of minutes to do. If it helps, think of it as a name label badge; so your first name plus surname (or at least surname initial) would generally be a good choice. You'll find links to the remainder of the our six part First Steps as part of the FAQ - First Steps.

Hints and Tips - Watch / Monitor caveat

Last month we explained how to add a "watch" to a page, so that you receive an email notification when the content (source) of the page is changed by another user. Please note that some of our pages, for example FamilyOf_ pages, include a wiki {toc} command (or a variant thereof) to embed the listing of a structure within the page. The content of the page doesn't change when the structure is updated, so don't expect to receive a watch notification when that happens.
NB Remember the wiki software underpinning TRP uses the terms "Monitor" and "Watch" to describe the same thing, which can cause confusion.
