Transcript

In the Name of God, Amen. May 20, 1768. I James Reve of Southold in the County of Suffolk and Providence of New York in America yeoman, being in perfect helath and of sound mind and memory yet calling to mind the mortality of my Body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to Die, Do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament in the following manner and form, principally and first of all I recommend my soul to God yt gave it and my Body I Recommend to the Earth to be buried at the discretion of my Executrix hereafter to be named and as touching my worldly Estate
(Imprimis) I give unto Mary my beloved Wife her full Power of Dower according to Law in all my Lands Buildings and Meadows with all my personall Estate whatsoever to enalbe her to pay my just Debts and for her own comfortable support, and to dispose of at her Discretion among my six children excluding my son James
(Item) I give unto my son Isaac and to his Heirs and Assigns forever, all my Land and Meadow wch I purchased of David Browns Exetrs and of Barnibas Ferrell with my three Rites in the manner Called Ferrell Mannor, and two Rites in the mannor called Mapes mannor also the preveledg of Cutting the same Hay of my Meadow as my sd Son usually hath done in time past, to do still for twenty five years after my Decease
(Item) I give to my Son Selah and to his Heirs and assigns forever my Farm purchased of James Hoell and my Land called Coleman lot with the Remainder of my Land in the mannors aforesd being seven Rites or shares in the same inclosed with what is before given to my son Isaac as also his preveledg of Cutting the same meadow twenty five years next after my Decease which his brother James Usually cut when he lived on the Farm sd son Selah now liveth on, and also the preveledg of cutting wood of the same (?) of wood land to son sd son James used to cut on for the same Term of years
(Item) I guve to my Son Ebenezer all my Land Divided or undivided in the mannor of St George with all my Rite at a Town Called Andover or Otter Creek, and my half Rite at Susquahannah all to him his Heirs and assigns forever.
Lastly I Constitute and appoint Mary my beloved wife my sol executrix to Execute this my Last Will and Testament rattifying and confirming this and no other to be my last Will and Testament.

Suffolk County } Be it Remembered that on the Tenth day of May one thousand Seven hundred and eighty one personally came and appeared before me Jared Landon Surrogate of the said County John Case of the County afforesaid Joiner, and being duly sworn on his oath Declared that he did see James Reeve sign and Seal the within written instrument purporting to be the Will of the sd James Reeve, bearing date the 20 day of May 1768 and heard him publish and Declare the same as & for his last Will & Testament. That at the time thereof he the siad James Reeve was of sound disposing mind & memory to the best of the knowledge and Belief of him the Deponent; and that his name subscribed to the said Will, is his respective proper hand writing which he subscribed as witness to the said will in the Testator's presents and that he the Deponent saw John Case & David Arnold the other witnesses to the said Will, subscribe their names as Witnesses thereto in the Testators Presents
