Muswell Hill St James is an Ecclesiastical Parish created in 1843 from the north-west part of the ancient parish of Hornsey in the east of the county of Middlesex.St. James is approximately seven miles north of the City of London.

To the north was the Ancient parish of Friern Barnet and then chapelry of Wood Green.
