Montgomery County, MS
History
Montgomery County, Mississippi was formed on May 31, 1871 from portions of both Carroll and Choctaw counties. In 1874 a part of its territory was transferred to Webster, then called Sumner County. The county was named in honor of Gen. Richard Montgomery who fell in the Battle of Quebec in December of 1775 during the Revolutionary War.
