The children, George (ID 33) and John (ID 34) are not the children of John Rives of the Rives family of Surry or Sussex, Virginia. Descendants of the Rives family of Surry/Sussex have been placed in DNA Group 8 of the Reeves DNA Project while a descendant of George Reeves and Ann Doggett through their son Benjamin's son Austin Smith Reeves who has participated in the Reeves DNA Project has been placed in DNA Group 10. Additionally, a descendant of William Reeve, grandson of George's brother, John Reeve, has also been placed in DNA Group 10.
The only documented son of John Rives and Grace, his wife, is Richard.
