In the name of God Amen: The three and twentith daie of September Anno Dom 1620 And in the yeares of the Raigne of our Soveraigne Lord James by the grace of God Kinge of England Frannce and Ireland defender of the faith &c the Eighteenth And of Scotland the foure & fiftieth I John Reeve thelder of Gosfield in the Countie of Essex yeoman beinge at this psent tyme of good & pfect memorye praised be Almightie therefore doe make publish & declare this my last will & testament in manner & forme following
First and principally I comitt and comend my soule into the hands of Almightie god and my body to the earth to be decentlie buried at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named when it shall please god to take my life from me And as touching my transitorie estate
First I doe devise give and bequeath unto Mary my wife all that my messuage tenement wth theappurtenances wherein I now dwell wth all & singular the lands tents meadows pastures & other the appurtenances thereunto belonging called & known by the name or names of Boones gate ? or by whatsoever else name or names they are called situate lying and beinge in Gosfield aforesaid to have & to hold all & singular the pmises aforesaid wth theappurtenances to the said Mary for & duringe the terme of her naturall life and from and after her decease unto Jeremy Reeve my younger sonne & to his heires for ever and I doe further give & bequeath unto the said Jeremy & to his heires forever all those my messuage lands tenements & hereditaments wth thappurtenances wch I lately bought of Edward Long gent situate lying & being in Much? Leet?, Boreham and Tirling in the Countie of aforesaid and I doe likewise give & devise all those my messuage land tenements & hereditaments wch I lately bought of John Channell? gent situate lying & being in Gosfield aforesaid Bocking & Halsted aforesaid unto the said Jeremy my sonne and to the heires of his body lawfully begotten, And for want of such yssue to Anne, Sara and Susan my daughters and to their heires for ever provided alwaise that the said Jeremy sonne shall paie unto Susan my daughter and to her executor or administrators either? one year after my decease tenn pound of lawfull money of England at the ? porche? of the pish church of Bocking aforesaid
I doe devise & bequeath unto Sara my daughter & to her heires forever all those my lands tents and hereditaments wch I lately bought of Simon Randall situate lying & being in Bocking aforesaid
Item I do devise & bequeath all the rents proffitts & ?dities of the three cottages & tenemts wherein Anamint? Alderman? Agnes Reeve widowe & William Porter nowe dwell and also of the? closet? ? called Slades Cross?, and the other being a close contry? ? lying between a certaine lane called Saldet Lane on thonside and a certaine close called the twentie acres on thother side in Bocking aforesaid unto Marie my wife ? from & after my decease contill? the feast of St Michaell tharchangell next ensuing after my decease and noe longer and my will and ? is that not withstanding my guift heretofore by me given either by deed or by this my last will & testament devised that it shall & may be lawfull to & for the said Mary my wife to clayme and take her dower at the comon lawe of all such lande tenements and hereditaments as I was at any time seised of during the entire? marriage betwixt us
Item I doe give & bequeath further unto my said daughter Susan twentie shillings of lawfull moey of England and alsoe unto Mary Reeve my brothers daughter foure pounds of like lawfull money
Item I give unto my said daughter Ann one peice of gold of two and twentie shillings and to my said daughter Sarah one peece of gold of eleven shillings, and also to John Reeve my brother's sonne twentie shilling and to Jone Sannder my sisters daughter twentie shillings and the said severall somes of money to be paid wthin one yeare nexte after my decease also I doe give unto the poore people of Bocking twentie shillings and also to the ppore people of Gosfield twentie shillings to be distributed amongst them wthin one moneth after my deathe at the discretion of my executrix And I doe further give unto the said Jeremy Reeve my younger sonne the best horse he shall choose out of all my horses to be delyverd? him wthin one weeke after my decease all the rest of my goods chattells money household stuff & moveables whatsoever I doe hereby give & devise unto Marie my wife whome I make & ordaine sole executrix of this my last will & testamt revokeing all other former wills by me heretofore made & devised In wittnes whereof I have hereuntp sett my hand & seale the daye and yeare first above written
