An 1891 deed pertaining to the sale of the lands of William Reeves some 40 years after his death.

Transcript or Summary

This Deed made the 4th day of December in the year A.D. eighteen hundred and ninety one between Jacob Snell and Mary E Snell his wife of the County of Upshur in West Virginia and P H Reeves and M C Reeves his wife of Richie County in said state and Elizabeth A Reeves the widow of Thomas Reeves deceased for herself and as guardian for the minor children and Algernon H Reeves an adult son of Thos Reeves deceased of said County of Richie and William Shields and Etta Shield his wife of the same County and Calvin Miller and Mary E Miller his wife of the County of Rockingham in the state of Virginia all heirs of Wm Reeves deceased formerly of Augusta County Virginia of the first part (Robert Reeves the remaining heir where residence is unknown not being a party hereto and Abraham Sanger of the County of Augusta in the state of Virginia of the second part, Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part as above mentioned for and in consideration of the sum of fifty dollars per acre for the lot of land the delivery of these presents a-pro-rata share of the value of said lot of land to each equal to the value of their respective shares. The value of (Robert Reeves share to be retained by the party of the second part until his share may be legally conveyed to the said Sanger Do grant with gen** warranty unto the said Abraham Sanger of the second part their respective undivided interests in a certain lot of land situated in the County of Augusta in Virginia in North River District adjoining the lands of Hogshead, Vance and Evers and bounded as follows (Viz — Beginning at a stand Evers corner formerly a triple white oak Stump and thence with his lines N 22½ W 19½ Poles to a Stone near a white oak (formerly a Pine) N 35 W 12½ Poles to a Stone Hogshead's corner & thence with this line S 46 W 32½ poles to a Stone a corner to the Shepherd lot & thence with the same. S 28 E 30 poles to a Stone Mark west of a road a corner to Long and Mrs V**** and thence with the latter N 47¾ E 31 7/8 poles to the beginning containing by the Original Survey Six Acres and Nineteen poles being the same lot conveyed to Wm Reeves by Abraham Smith & wife by deed bearing date the 28th day of March 1849 of Record in the Office of the Clerk of the County Court of Augusta County in Deed Book No 69 Page 366 to which reference is made.

                    I, E C Goff a Notary Public in and for the County and State aforesaid do certify that P. H Reeves and M. C. Reeves his wife and Elizabeth A Reeves and Algourncy (sic) Reeves whose names are signed to the writing above bearing date on the 4th day of Decbr 1891 have this day acknowledged the same before me in my said County
