Edward Reaves is listed in the 1830 census of Brunswick County, North Carolina with only two members in the household - one male 20-29 and one female 15-20. His residence is adjacent to the household of George Reaves who is likely his father.

In the census of 1850, Edward Reaves has a younger wife so presumably the wife of the 1830 census is deceased and he has remarried a younger wife, Elza sic Eliza born c1827.

At the beginning of the Civil War, on 11 Jun 1861, Edward C. Reaves enlisted in Co. F of the 3rd Regiment, North Carolina Infantry of the CSA. He was promoted to Full Comm Sergeant on 24 Aug 1861 and mustered out on 01 Nov 1861 at Fredericksburg, Virginia.

Research Notes

Edward Reaves is not documented as a son of George Reaves, but does appear to be part of that family. He was living in close proximity and is named in the probate records of Mary Gore Reaves' father Joseph Gore's estate in 1845.
