Dates and children's names from Laban Lewis Family Bible. The year 1849 for Charles Reaves appears to be a typographical error in the bible transcription. He is listed as born in 1841 in census records.

Robert Reaves was granted the administration of the estate of Hardy Reaves in January of 1862. He is also named as one of the heirs of Hardy Reaves in the final settlement in January 1867.

Robert Reaves filed a claim (#10822) against the U.S. government in July of 1877 for $1,706.00 for supplies and livestock confiscated by the army of Gen. William T. Sherman as his army moved through North Carolina. The file for his claim includes 38 pages of statements regarding Robert Reaves having been a "union man" and never giving assistance or support to the Confederacy. He states that 3 of his sons were killed in the Civil War after being conscripted by the Confederate army. His son Charles and his daughter Catherine both gave supporting statements in the documents regarding his claim. His claim was approved in June of 1878.
