Narrative

Children of Lemuel Rogers and Elizabeth Reeves:
  1. Sterling Rogers, b. c1857, Georgia. He is probably the Starlin Rodgers, age 25, with wife Minerva, age 22, and son Lem, born March 1870, enumerated in San Saba Co., TX, in 1880.

Elizabeth Reeves married Lemuel Rogers, Jr., son of Lemuel Rogers and Elizabeth Wright. The 1860 Pike Co., GA, Census, HH 621/594, showed them: Elemuel Rodgers, 27, Farm Laborer, Ga; Elizabeth, 26, GA; Sterling, 3, GA. The Rodgers family had property valued at $157. They were living at Zebulon Post Office when the census was taken 23 July 1860. The nearest Reaves to them, however, was Sidney in HH 613/586: Sidney K. Reaves, 53, Farmer, $2500/$6045, NC; Sarah C., 47, GA; George W., 28, Farm laborer, GA; Mary J., 16, GA; Martha E., 12, GA; Sarah C., 10, GA; Biddie O., 8, GA.

In 1870, one Elizabeth Rogers is found in HH 957/955: Elizabeth Rogers, 33, K. H., GA; John W., 16, Farm Laborer, GA; Carrie, 14, At Home, GA. She was living near Pelina Reeves, widow of William Reeves. The entry does not match 1860, suggesting that this may be a different person.

Rogers researchers indicate that Lemuel and Elizabeth went to Texas; in 1867, one Lemuel Rogers, a native of Georgia, signed a voter registration document in Milam Co., TX. He indicated that he had been living in Texas for a year and a half at that time.
