The News and Herald, (Winnsboro, SC), 13 Jan 1880
Mr. Ewell Reeves, Jr., had a little daughter burned to death on Saturday last. It appears that the child was left in charge of some smaller children while the mother had gone to a branch to wash some clothing. The child gathered some fuel for the fire in her apron, which caught on fire in emptying it. Her crise attracted her mother and others, but before she could be reached she was so badly burned that she lived only a few hours.
