Henry John REEVES is the eldest of six children (of whom only 4 known) of Robert Henry Reeves and his wife Ellen (nee HERRIOTT). His birth is noted by FREEBMD as being registered during the December quarter of 1890 in the Brighton Registration District of East Sussex.

On the 1891 census, Henry appears in the home of his parents at Round Hill Street, Brighton. He is shown as 5 months old and was born in Brighton. An Alfred J Reeves (shown as a boarder, but believed to be his paternal uncle) completes the household.

By the time of the 1901 census, Henry has moved with his parents to Hughenden Road, Hastings, Sussex. He is now recorded as being 10 yeras old and again born in Brighton. He has two younger brothers who complete the household.

Henry has yet to be identified on the 1911 census. He is not at his parent's home in Plynlimmon Road, Hastings.

Henry's death is recorded on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's website.  As Seaman 5172B of the Royal Naval Reserve he was killed when HMS Laurentic was sunk by mines in January 1917 just off the coast of County Donegal, Ireland. The CWGC additionally notes "Son of Robert Henry Reeves of Junction St, Polegate, Sussex."

He is commemorated on the Portsmouth Naval Memorial4  along with two other individual (from WW1) who share the surname Reeves; Richard Reeves and Robin Reeves5.  Henry's name appears on Panel 27 of the memorial6.
