Was first commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery on 23 Decemeber 1898, promoted to Lieutenant on 16 February 1901 and to Captain on 8 April 1904. The 1906 Army List (page 1436) records him as a Captain in the Royal Garrison Artillery.

There is an entry on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission site recording his death and significant biographical information. He was buried in the Quetta Government Cemetery, India. Since partition, Quetta is now in modern day Pakistan.

From FreeBMD, Hugh Charles Reeves married Elsie Madeline ALLAN, their marriage is registered in the July-September quarter of 1906 in the Swaffham (Norfolk) Registration District
