Obituary of James P. Reeves.
James P. Reeves was born in Frankfort county, Kentucky, January 24th, 1820, and died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. D. Russell, near this city, November 11th, 1905, aged 84 years, 9 months and 18 days. In 1842 be was married to Miss Jane E. Romerill in Shelby county, Indiana. He leaves six children, three sons and three daughters to mourn his loss, his wife and seven children having preceeded him to the better land. Mr. Reeves, with his father, moved to the state of Indiana when sixteen years of age, where he lived until the fall of 1877, when he, with his family moved to Kansas and settled in Butler county, He was converted early in life and was for more than sixty years a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church. In his last sickness he said "All is well with my soul." His last words were "Lord stake me - take me now," and He sent the angel to guide him to his heavenly home where we are to meet him.
He was laid to rest In the Douglass cemetery, followed by a long line of sympathetic friends.
The floral offerings from the different societies were many and beautiful.

The obituary indicates he moved to Indiana with his father around 1836 and then moved to Kansas in fall of 1877.

Research Notes

There is no Frankford County in Kentucky. However, Frankfort is the capital of Kentucky and resides in Franklin County, so this is likely what the obituary is referring to. A search of tax records of Franklin County from 1819 through 1822 produces no record of a Caleb Reeves there.
