Narrative

This Richard was either from New Jersey or Virginia. His estate was administrated by "William Rose and William Fosque both of the Continental Service from the State of Virginia." The inventory included "Eleven pounds due for a Rifle by Colon. Wood of the 12th Virga. Regimt" and "Twenty one Dollars lodgd in the hands of Capt Andrew Waggoner." This indicates Rose and Fosque were probably fellow Revolutionary War Soldiers. His service record shows him present as part of the 12th Virginia Regiment under Captain Andrew Waggener. He as present most of 1777. Items from 13 Oct and 4 Nov 1777 notes that he was in the hospital.

Research Notes

Since his service in the 12th Virginia Regiment indicates he was from Virginia, it's possible this is the same as Richard Rives who at various times was in NC and VA and disappears from the records in the 1770s.
