Narrative
Tolbert was born in Bladen, County North Carolina, and later relocated to Caldwell, TX where he helped his nephew Edward Reeves establish a new life in Texas with his family as recounted in The Lone Star State. At 51 years of age, Tolbert reportedly was struck by lightning and killed while riding his horse at the Cole crossing of the Yegua.Research Notes
