Narrative

Little is presently known about William's early life. On the 1851 and 1861 census returns he was consistent with his age and place of birth.

Children of William Reeves and Jane ( mnu nee PAGE):
  1. Charles Reeves, bapt 1817
  2. William Reeves, bapt 1818
  3. Joseph Reeves, bapt 1820
  4. Alfred Reeves, bapt 1822
  5. Thomas Reeves, bapt 1823
  6. Henry Reeves, bapt 1825
  7. James Reeves, bapt 1827
  8. Benjamin Reeves, bapt 1829
  9. David Reeves, bapt 1833
  10. Asher Reeves, bapt 1835
  11. Sarah Reeves, b.reg. 1839
Where a baptism is indicated, it was conducted at the Parish Church of St Margaret, Hinton Waldrist, Berkshire. The birth of their youngest daughter Sarah was registered during the fourth quarter of 1839 in the Faringdon Registration District, which includes the parish of Hinton Waldrist, and her mother’s maiden name was given as PAGE.

It is also probable William and Jane are also the parents of George Reeves who was baptised at Shrivenham, Berkshire in 1814. This George alternates his place of birth between Bourton, which is within the parish of Shrivenham and Hinton Waldrist. He is often found in close proximity to William's other known children.

Neither William nor Jane have been identified on the 1871 census. It is probable William's is the death noted by FreeBMD during the fourth quarter of 1886 in the Faringdon Registration District. The age given of 80 is a little less than the expected 82/3 to be consistent with the 1851 & 1861 census returns.
