The Visitations of Essex by Raven in 1612 and by Owen and Lilly in 1634 both list a chart of the Reve family. This information was probably gathered from John's brother Francis Reeve as he was the primary resident of Essex from this family which the chart focuses on. The chart shows the following on John:

• (1612) John Reve of London 5th sonne, mar. Judeth daugh. to Troce (? Trosse) of London
• (1634) John Reve of London

The will of his brother Thomas from 1595 mentions John as well as "Franncys Reve the sonne of John Reve my brother" (probably the same as "Franncys Reve my godsonnne and nephew") and "George Reve the sonne of John Reve my brother."
