Transcript

To all People to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know yee that Cockerl Reeves of Salem Heel or Last maker & Eliza Reeves of Salem in the County of Essex widow Exrs of the Last Will & Testament of William Reeves of Salem mason Decd by virtue of ye dower given us in sd Wm Reeves Will bearing Date the fifteenth Day of January 1717 to make sale of his upland in ye southfield in Salem for paymt of his sd William Reeves Debts & funerall charges &c for & in consideration of ye sum of Twenty pounds to us in before the ensealing hereof well & truly paid by Samuel Ropes of Salem in the County & Province abovesd Cordwainer the Receipt whereof well do hereby acknowledge & ourselves therewith fully satisfyed & contented & thereof & of every part parcell thereof do exonerate acquit & discharge the said Samuel Ropes his heirs Excs adminrs forever by these presents have given granted Bargained sold aliened conveyed & confirmed & by these presents do freely fully & absolutely give grant Bargain sell alien convey & confirm unto the said Samll Ropes his heirs & assignes forever two acres & one halfe of an acre of upland Situate in the Township of Salme in a field knowne by the name of the Southfield Butted & Bounded as followeth Northerly on the land formerly David Flints easterly on the salt watter or Salem Rabour southerly on John Kempton Westerly Jona Glover or Adames swamp be it more or less within the aboves Bounds to have & to hold the sd granted & Bargained premises with all the appurtenances priviledges & commodities to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the sd Samll Ropes his heirs & assigns forever to his & their only proper use benefit & Behoof forever & wee the said Cockerl Reeves & Elizabeth Reeves for ourselves our heirs Exrs Adminrs do covenant promise & grant to & with the said Samuel Ropes his heirs & assigns that before the ensealing hereof wee are the true sole & lawfull owner of the above bargained premises & are lawfully seized & possessed of the same in our own proper right as a good perfect & absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple & have in our selves good right full power & lawfull authority to grant bargain sell convey & confirm said bargained premises in manner as abovesd & That the said Samll Ropes his heirs & assigns shall & may from time to time & at all times forever hereafter by force & virtue of these presents lawfully peaceably & quietly have hold use occupy possess & enjoy the sd demised & bargained premises with the appurtenances free & clear & freely & clearly acquitted exonerated & discharged of from all & all manner of former or other gifts grants Bargains sales leases mortgages wills entails joyntures dowries judgmts executions or incumbrances of what name or nature soever that might in any measure or degree obstruct or mak void this present Deed Furthermore well the said Cockerill Reeves & Eliza Reves for ourselves heirs Excrs adminrs do covenant & ingage the about demised premises to the said Samuel Ropes his heirs & assigns against the lawfull claims or demands of any person or persons whatsoever forever hereafter to warrant secure & defend by ye presents In witness whereof will have hereunto sett our lands and seals the thirteenth day of July in the Eleventh year of his Majtys Reign George by the Grace of God of great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of ye faith & Annoq Domini 1725
