In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Reeves of Southold in the County of Suffolk and Colony of New York in America Blacksmith being infirm of Body but of perfect mind & memory thanks be given unto Almighty God therefore calling unto mind the mortality of my Body & knowing that is is appointed for all men once to Die do make ordain and set forth this my last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give & recommend my soul unto the hands of God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian Burial at the discretion of my executrix hereafter named nothing doubting but at the General Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this Life, I give Will and Dispose of the same in the following manner and form. Imprimis I give and bequeath to my Eldest son Abner Reeves five shillings besides what I shall formerly given him. Item I give and bequeath to Mary my dearly beloved wife all & singular my lands hereditaments messuages & tenements by her freely to be enjoyed and possessed and her heirs and assigns forever. I also give and bequeath unto my said wife (after my funeral charges and all my just debts are paid) all my household goods & chattels debts and moveable effect at her sole dispose and Improvement whom I likewise constitute make and ordain my sole executrix of this my last will and Testament & I do hereby utterly disallow revoke & disanul all & every other former Testaments Wills Legacies & Bequests & Executors by me in any ways before named Willed & bequeathed Ratifying & Confirming this & no other to be my last Will & Testament, In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eleventh day of February in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & thirty five, six.Thomas Reeves (LS)

Probate of the Will of Thomas Reeves
George Clark Esqr his majesties Lieutenant Governour and Commander in Chief of the Province of New York and the Territories thereon depending &c To all to whom these present shall come or may concern Greeting. Know ye that at Suffolk County the fifth day of June Instant before Brinley Sylvester Esqr being thereunto delegated and appointed the Last Will and Testament of Thomas Reeves was prov'd and now approv'd and allowed of by me having whilst he lived and at the time of his death Goods Right and Credit in divers places within this Province by means whereof the full disposition of all and singular the Good Right and Credit of the said Deceased and the Granting Administration of them as also the hearing of account calculation or Reckoning and the final discharged & dismission from the same unto me solely and not unto any inferior Judge are manifestly known to belong and the Administration of all and singular the Good Rights and Credits of the said Deceased and his last Will and Testament in any manner of way concerning was Granted unto Mary Reeves sole executrix in the said Will named Chiefly of well and truely administrating the same and of making a true and perfect Inventory of all and singular the Goods Rights and Credits of the said Decease and exhibiting the same into the Registry of the Prerogative Court in the Secretary's Office for the Province of New York at or before the fifth day of December next ensuing the date hereof and of rendering a just and true account calculation or reckoning thereof when thereunto required, In Testimony whereof I have caused the Prerogative Seal of the said Province of New York to be hereunto affixed the fifth day of June Anno Domini One thousand Seven hundred and thirty nine.
