Transcript
To all Christian people to whom these presents shall come I Thomas Rives of Saint Andrews Parrish in Brunswick County sendeth greeting know ye that I the said Thomas Rives For Divers good causes & considerations me hereunto moveing but more especially for & in consideration of the true love and natural affection which I bear to my son George Rives of the parrish & County aforesaid have given granted and confirmed and do by these presents freely clearly and absolutely give grant make over and confirm unto my son George Rives & his heirs forever one part of a certain tract of land containing by estimation fifty acres more or less being part of the land where I now live on and in the parrish of Saint Andrews and County of Brunswick and begineth in manner following at a red oak by the side of a gul thence east down a dividing line to a red oak a corner tree of Jeremiah Brown's land thence North west along the said Brown's line to a red oak a corner tree thence south west to the aforesaid gul and down the gul as it meanders to the Begining to have and to hold & peacably to Injoy the aforesaid fifty acres of land from the claim right and title of me the said Thomas Rives my heirs exexrs or any other person or persons whatsoever to the only proper use and behoof of him the said George Rives his heirs or assigns for ever and I the said Thomas Rives for my self my heirs execrs and every of them doth covenant promise and agree to and with the said George Rives his heirs &c that from and after the date of these presents that I them or either of us hath not nor ought to have any the least right title interest claim or demand in or unto the said land aforesaid but that the same be and is from thence forward vested in and stands good and lawfull to the said George Rives his heirs and assigns for ever and further the said Thomas Rives for my self my heirs Execrs admrs and each & every of us doth covenant promise and agree that the right title interest profit and sole property of the said fifty acres of land against our selves and every of us our and every of our heirs exrs admrs and all other persons whatsoever will warrant and forever defend by these presents unto the said George Rives his heirs and assigns for ever in witness whereof the said Thomas Rives have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twentyninth day of November one thousand seven hundred and forty sixThomas (his T mark) Rives (LS)
