This Indenture made the Eighteenth Day of April in the Twentieth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the second by the Grace of God of Great Britain France & Ireland King Defender of the Faith &c, Ano Domon one thousand seven hundred and forty seven Between Henry Cook of the County of Brunswick of the one part & George Rives of the same County of the other part Witnesseth that the sd Henry Cook for divers good causes & considerations him hereunto moving but more aspecially for & in consideration of the sum of thirty pounds currt money of Virginia to him the sd Henry Cook in had well & truly paid before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof the said Henry Cook Doth hereby acknowledge & himself to be there with fully satisfied content & paid & thereof and thereupon Doth acquit releas & Discharg the sd George Rives hs heirs exors and admrs hath & by these presents Doth for himself his heirs exrs & admrs grant bargain sell remise release & forever acquit claim & confirm unto the sd George Rives & his assignes all that tract seat or parcel of land situate lying & being in the Parrish of St Andrew & County of Brunswick & on the south side of the Great Swamp containing by estimation five hundred acres more or less and bounded as followeth (to wit) Beginning at a gum on the south side of the sd swamp a corner tree of George Wyches land patent dated March the XXVIth one thousand seven hundred & thirty nine thence along the sd Wyches line south forty two degrees west one hundred & sixty poles to a white wood thence south sixty five degrees west eighty two poles to a pine thence along Henry Cooks new line a south west course to a pine thence south course to a branch called & known by the name of the rooty branch thence along the branch down to a poplar a corner of Henry Cooks land in the aforesd Branch thence along Cooks line north twenty degrees east one hundred & seventy two poles to a red oak runing on the sd line north seventy five degreese east one hundred & seventy eight poles to a pine by the side of the great swamp aforesd & up the various courses of run of the sd swamp to the beginning To have and to hold the sd five hundred acres of land & premises herein & hereby meant mentioned or intended to be herein & hereby granted bargained & sold to geather with preveledges rents issues profits & appurtn thereunto belong or in anise appertaining unto the sd. George Rives his heirs & assigns forever so that nither the sd Henry Cook his heirs Exrs or admrs or any other person or persons whatsoever shall at any time hereafter have any maner of right title intrest property claim or demand of in or unto the sd five hundred acres of land or any other part or parcel thereof but that the same with all & singular the apprts thereunto belonging shall be & forever hereafter ensure to the only sole proper use & behoof of him the sd George Rives his heirs & assigns & further more the sd Henry Cook for him self his heirs Exrs & admrs doth by these presents promise covenant & agree to & with the sd George Rives that he the sd Henry Cook shall and will forever hereafter defend this presents bargain & sale unto the sd George Rives his heirs & assigns forever by a general warranty against all & all maner of persons what soever. In witness whereof the sd Henry Cook hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the Day of Date first above written,
