To all to whom these presents shall come Greeting Know ye that I John Mason the Elder of Sussex County for diverse considerations me hereunto moving but more especially for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which I have and do bear unto my son in law Christopher Rives and (Daughter) Elizabeth his wife, and for their preferment in the World I have and do by these presents for me and my heirs, give confirm & deliver unto them the said Christopher Rives & Elizabeth his wife, and to their heirs and assigns forever, the two following negro slaves, that is to say Sarah a negro woman, and Doll a negro girl. To hold the said two negro slaves and their increase unto them the said Christopher Rives and Elizabeth his wife their heirs and assigns forever. And the said John Mason the said two negro slaves and their increase herein before named unto the said Christopher Rives and Elizabeth his wife their heirs and assigns, against me the said John Mason and my heirs and against all other persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents. At a court held for Sussex County the 17th day of April 1761. This Deed was acknowledged by the thereto subscribed John Mason to be his act and Deed and by the court ordered to be recorded.
