Transcript

This Indenture made this seventeenth day of October in the year of our Lord God One Thousand Seven Hundred & Sixty five Between William Rives of Prince George County of the one part & James Chappell Junr of Sussex County of the other part witnesseth that the said William Rives for & in consideration of the kind Love & affection that he hath for his son in law James Chappell Junr & his wife Judith Chappell doth give & deliver unto the said James Chappell Junr & his wife Judith one negro boy called Robin to them & their heirs for ever & by these presents hath given & delivered unto the said James Chappell Junr & his wife Judith & their heirs forever the said Negro Boy Called Robin to te only proper use of the said James Chappell Junr & his wife Judith & their heirs forever & the said William Rives doth for himself & his heirs farther agree with the said James Chappell Junr & his wife Judith & their heirs forever that the said William Rives his heirs &c shall & will forever warrant & defend the right of title of the said negro boy called Robin unto the said James Chappell Junr & his wife Judith & their heirs forever.
In witness whereof the said William Rives hath hereunto set his hand & seal the day & year above written.
