Frances Rives was the relict of George Rives of Albermarle Parish, Surry County, Virginia.

Transcript

In the Name of God Amen I Frances Rieves of the Parish of Albermarle in the County of Sussex in the Colony of Virginia being some what indisposed in health of Body but of sound and disposing mind and memory (Blessed be God) do this Fourteenth Day of October in the year of our Lord Christ one thousand Seven hundred & Sixty nine make & Ordain this my last will & Testament in manner as following. Viz,
Imprimis. I give unto my loving Son George Rives and his Heirs one Tract or parcel of Land containing one hundred Acres more or less lying in the County of Sussex Likewise I give unto my son George Rives aforesaid all the rest of my Estate of what nature or kind soever and I Do appoint my son George Rieves sole executor of this my last Will & Testament & I do desire that my Estate may not be appraised in Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal the Day & Year above written.

At a court held for Sussex County the 19th day of April 1770 -
The afore written last will and Testament of Frances Rieves decd was presented into Court by George Rieves the Executor therein named who made oath there to as the law directs & the same was proved by the Oaths of Martha Binns & Margaret Hay the witnesses thereto and by the Court ordered to be recorded; and on the motion of the sd executor certificate is granted him for obtaining a probate thereof in due form.
