Transcript
This Indenture made the Twenty first day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Seventy nine Between George Reeves of Halifax County in the state of Virginia Planter & Martha his wife of the one part and Luke Williams of the aforesaid County & State of the other part witnesseth that the said George Reeves and Martha his wife for and in consideration of the sum of Three hundred and sixty Pounds current money of the state of Virginia to them or one of them in hand paid, by the said Luke Williams before the ensealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge and thereof do do (sic) fully and clearly acquit and discharge the said Luke Williams his Executors and and (sic) administrators by these presents, they the said George Reeves and Martha his wife have granted, Bargained, Sold aliened Enfeoffed and confirmed and by these presents do grant, Bargain, Sell, alien, Enfeoff & Confirm unto the said Luke Williams and his heirs all the Messuage Tenement and parcel of Land with the appurtenances Bounded as followeth, Beginning at a small Red oak corner in Curry’s line and running South 40 degrees East one hundred poles crossing the Court House Branch twice to a crooked Spanish oak on the south side of said Branch, thence north sixty four East one hund.d & twenty two pole to a small Box oak sapling on a Ridge thence No. twenty Six East thirty four poles to a small Box oak Sapling near the road thence No. fifty nine West two hund.d & eighty pole to a Branch in curry’s Line thence a long his line South Nineteen East one hund.d & Sixty five pole to the first Station. Situate lying and being in Hallifax (sic) County aforesaid containing one hundred acres or there about be the same more or less and all and Singular Buildings and Improvement of what nature or kind soever to the same adjoining and belonging also the reversion and Reversions, Remainder and Remainders Right Estate, Benefit, claim and demand whatsoever of them the said George Reeves and Martha his wife of and to all the said premises and every part or parcel of them and of and to all yearly or other Rents reserved upon any demise or lease of the said premises or any part thereof to Have and to Hold the said Messuage Tenement & persel (sic) of Land and all & Singular the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be hereby granted unto the said Luke Williams His heirs and assigns forever, And the said George Reeves and Martha his wife for themselves and their heirs the said Messuage Tenement and parcel of Land and all and Singular the premises before mentioned unto him the said Luke Williams his Heirs and assigns against them the said George Reeves & Martha his wife and all persons whatsoever claiming or to claim by or under them shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents ~ In testimony whereof they the said George Reeves and Martha his wife have hereunto set their Hands and Seals the day and year first above Written. At a Court held for Hallifax (sic) County the 21st day of October 1779 This Indenture & receipt herein endorsed between George Reeves of the one part and Luke Williams of the other were by the said George acknowledge to be his several acts and deed and the same were ordered to be recorded.
