THIS INDENTURE made this fourth day of Feby One thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Two Between John Maulden of County of Granville in the State of North Carolina of the one part & Burges Reeves of the sd. County of the other part Witnesseth that the sd. John Maulden for & in Consideration of the Sum of Fifty pounds to him in hand paid at or before the ensealing & delivery hereof the Rect whereof is hereby acknowledged & Said John Mauldin & the sd Burges Reeves doth hereby Acquit & discharge hath granted bargained & sold Released & confirmed unto the sd. Burges Reeves his heirs & assigns forever A Certain piece or parcel of Land lying on the waters of Poplar Creek Beginning at a poplar the west side of poplar Creek running west Alwick (?) old line thence North with line to Spanish Oak thence east with his line to the Creek then down the sd. Creek to the first Station only two acres of Land excepted for the use of Mauldin at his disposal on the west side of the sd. Creek the other Containing by estimation One Hundred Acres of land be the same more or less with all houses & orchards & all the appertances (sic) thereto belonging or anywise appertaining and all right Title Interest in & to the sd premises & reversion & reversions remainder & remainders rents Issues & profits thereto & every part & parcel thereof with all their appertances (sic) thereunto belonging to have & to hold the sd. Tract of land & other their (?) premises & appertainces (sic) to the same belonging to the sd Burges Reeves his heirs & assigns forever he the sd. John Mauldin his heirs & assigns & he the sd. John Mauldin for himself his heirs Extrs Admrs & assigns doth covenant and agree to & with the sd. Burges Reeves his heirs & assigns that the above granted land be free & clear of all Incumbrances (sic) whatsoever & that the sd. John Mauldin hath full power to sell & dispose of same & he the sd. Mauldin his heirs & assigns shall & will ever warrant & defend the Same to Said Burges Reeves his heirs & assigns forever & against the lawfull Claim of any person or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof the sd John Mauldin hath hereunto set his hand & affixed his seal the day & year first above written ~~~~~John Mauldin (Seal)
