This Indenture made the twenty seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and in the tenth year of the Independence of the United States of America Between Thomas Reeves of the one part and William Greaves now or late of Savannah in the said State of the other part Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of fifty pounds sterling to him the said Thomas Reeve in hand of and before the sealing and delivery of these presents by the said William Greaves well and truly paid the receipt whereof the said Thomas Reeve doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and every part and parcel thereof doth acquit release exonerate and discharge the said William Greaves his heirs executors and administrators and every of them for ever by these presents and the said Thomas Reeve hath granted bargained sold aliened released and confirmed and by these presents doth fully freely clearly and absolutely grant bargain sell alien release and confirm unto the said William Greaves in his actual possession now being by virtue of a bargain and sale to him thereof made by the said Thomas Reeve for one whole year for the consideration of ten shillings sterling by an indenture of lease bearing date the day next before the day of the date of these presents to commence from the day next before the day of the date hereof and sealed and delivered before the executing of these presents and also by force of statute for transfering use into possession in that case made and provided and unto his heirs and assigns forever A certain plantation or tract of land lying and being in Washington County containing two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres be the same more or less which was granted by his honor Samuel Elbert Esquire Governor of the said State bearing date the eight day of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and butting and bounding Northeastwardly by Samuel Sticks land Northwestwardly by Samuel Jacks land southwestwardly by unknown land and Southeastwardly by Edward Hails land together with all and singular the gardens orchards fences ways wells waters water courses easements profits commodities advantages emoluments hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders rents issues and profits thereof and for every part and parcel thereof and also all the estate right title interest possession property profit claim and demand whatsoever either in law or equity which he the said Thomas Reeve now hath or ever had or which he or his heirs hereafter shall may can or ought to have of into or out of the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land and other the premises with these and every of their appurtenances together with all deeds plats grants charters writings and muniments whatsoever which he the said Thomas Reeve now hath in his custody or possession or can come by without suit in law or equity that do only concern the premises - To have and to hold the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land and all and singular other the premises hereby granted and released or meant and intended to be granted and released unto the said William Greaves his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoof of the said William Greaves his heirs and assigns for ever and the said Thomas Reeve for himself and his heirs the said premises hereby bargained sold granted released or meant and intended to be bargained sold granted and released with their and every of their Appurtenances unto him the said William Greaves his heirs and assigns against all and all manner of persons and persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents and the said Thomas Reeve for himself and his heirs executors and administrators doth covenant promise grant and agree to and with the said William Greaves his heirs & assigns by these presents in manner and form following that is to say That the said Thomas Reeve now at the time of the sealing and delivery of these presents is and standeth lawfully and absolutely seized of and in the said plantation or tract of land containing two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be hereby granted and released and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances of a good sure perfect and absolute estate of inheritance in fee simple without any manner of condition trust proviso power of revocation or limitation of any use or uses or other restraint matter or thing whatsoever to alter change charge defeat or evict the same and also that the said Thomas Reeve now hath in himself good right full power and lawful and absolute authority to grant release and confirm the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land be the same more or less and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be hereby granted and released and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances unto the said William Greaves his heirs and assigns forever as aforesaid And also that it shall and may be lawful to and for the said William Greaves his heirs and assigns from time to time and at all times forever hereafter peacably and quietly to enter into have hold occupy possess and enjoy the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be hereby granted and released and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances without any the lawful let suit trouble molestation eviction or interruption of the said Thomas Reeve his heirs executors or administrators or any other person or persons whatsoever claiming or to claim by from or under him or them and that free and clear and freely and clearly and absolutely acquitted exonerated and discharged of and from all and all manner of former and other gifts grants bargains ales uses wills entails jointers dowers judgements executors charges and incumberances whatsoever had made done committed or suffered by the said Thomas Reeve or any other person or persons whatsoever lawfully claiming or to claim by from or under him And lastly the said Thomas Reeve his heirs and all and every other person and persons lawfully claiming or to claim any estate right title trust or interest of in or to the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be hereby granted and released or any part or parcel thereof shall and well from and at all times hereafter at the reasonable request nd proper costs and charges in the law of the said William Greaves his heirs and assigns make do acknowledge and execute or cause and procure to be made done acknowledged done and executed all and every such further and other lawful and reasonable act and acts thing and things conveyances and assurances in the law whatsoever for the further better and more perfect and absolute granting conveying and assuring the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be hereby granted and released and every part and parcel thereof with their and every of their appurtenances to and for the use and behoof of the said William Greaves his heirs and assigns for ever as by him or them or by his and their council learned in the law shall be reasonably devised or advised and required in Witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto enterchangeably set their hands and seals the day and year first above written.
