State of Georgia
This Indenture made this twenty seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and in the tenth year of the Independence of the United States of America Between Thomas Reeves of the one part and William Greaves now or late of Savannah in the said State of the other part Witnesseth that for and ibn consideration of the sum of ten shillings sterling to him in hand well and truly paid by the said William Greaves at and before the sealing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth bargain and sell unto the said William Greaves his executor administrator and assigns a certain plantation or tract of land lying and being in Washington County containing two hundred eighty seven and half acres be the same more or less which was granted by his honor Samuel Elbert Esquire Governor of the said State bearing date the eight day of March one thousand seven hundred and eighty five and butting and bounding northeastwardly by Samuel Llerks land northwestwardly Samuel Jacks land southwesterdly by unknown land and southeastwardly by Edward Hails lands together and all and singular the gardens orchards fences ways wells water water courses easements profits comodities advantages emoluments hereditaments and appurtenance whatsoever to the said two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land be the same more or less belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land be the same more or less belonging or in any wise appertaining and the reversion and reversions remainder and remainders thereof and every part and parcel thereof to have and to hold the said tract of two hundred and eighty seven and a half acres of land and all and singular other the premises herein before mentioned and intended to be hereby bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with there and every of their appurtenances unto the said William Greaves his executors administrators and assigns from the day next before he day of the date of these presents for and during the full time and unto the full end and term of one whole year from thence next ensuing and fully to be compleated and ended yielding and paying therefor unto the said Thomas Reeves executors or administrators the rent of one pepper corn on the last day of said term of the same shall be lawfully demanded to the intent and purpose that the said William Greaves by vertue hereof and by force of the Statutes for transfering of uses into possession may be in actual possion of the premises herein mentioned and intended to be hereby bargained and sold and every part and parcel thereof with there and every of their appertenances and may be hereby enabled to accept and take a grant and release of the reversion and inheritance of the same to him and his heirs forever in witness whereof the said parties to these presents have hereunto interchangeably set their hands and seals this day and year above written.
