To all To whom these presents shall come greeting Know ye that I John Buckner & Mary his Wife of the County of Orange & State of North Carolina for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred & seventy pounds specie, to us in hand paid by George Reaves hatter of the County & State aforesaid the Receipt of which We John Buckner & Mary his wife do hereby acknowledge & ourselves herewith fully satisfyed (sic) and do truly and absolutely discharge the said George Reaves hath bargained and sold and by these presents doth fully and freely give grant bargain sell allien (sic) release convey confirm & set over unto him the said George Reaves his heirs and assigns for ever A certain piece or parcel of land lying & being in Orange County aforesaid on the waters of Terrels Creek of Haw River being part of a Tract of land of four hundred and eighty eight acres originally granted to the said John Buckner Beginning at a sweet Gum on the side of Tyrals (sic) Creek on Chatham County line runing thence West Sixty one chain to a Black Jack Oak on said line thence North forty Chains to a post Oak & Black Oak the dividing corner of the Tract thence the dividing lines East sixty chains to a Stake in a field thence North Eight Chains to a Maple on chain from the head of a Spring thence East through the Center of said spring Nineteen chains to an Ash & Willow Oak on the side of Tyrals Creek thence down the Meanders of said Creek to the first station containing by Estimation two hundred & eighty Acres To have and to hold the said two hundred & eighty acres of land bargained & sold and all and singular the rights and previledges (sic) commodities hereditaments & appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any ways appertaining unto him the said George Reaves his heirs and assigns for ever in fee simple absolutely in as full and ample manner to all intent & purposes as the most learned in the law can devise further we the said John Buckner & Mary his wife for ourselves our heirs Executors & assigns do covenant and agree to and with the said George Reaves to warrant and defend the said land and tenement for ever against the lawful claim or demand of any persons or persons whatsoever In Witness whereof we the John Buckner and Mary Buckner have hereunto set to our hands and affixed our seals this first day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & eighty Nine.Signed Sealed and Acknowledged
