1789 Deed - Benjamin Rainey to Timothy Reeves

This Indenture made the Eighth Day of October in the year One Thousand seven hundred and Eighty nine and in the fifteenth year of American Independence between Benjamin Rainey of the state of Georgia Wilkes County of the one part and Timothy Reeves of the State of South Carolina on the other part Witnesseth the said Benjamin Rainey for and inconsideration of the sum of one hundred pounds Sterling to him in hand fairly paid by the said Timothy Reeves the Receipt of which is hereby acknowledged he the said Benjamin Rainey hath bargained and sold Released Convey and confirms and by these presents doth bargain sell Remise Release and convey and confirm unto the said Timothy Reeves all that tract or parcel of land containing two hundred and Eighty Two acres lying on or near a Creek called Genersostee in the State of South Carolina and District of Ninety Six the same being Granted unto David Clark by a patent bearing date the fifth day of February one thousand seven hundred Eight Seven Recorded in the Secretaries Office in said State Grant Book 16th Day of September 1778 page 648. Reference hereunto has more full appears and by lawful conveyances the said David Clark unto the said Benjamin Rainey and next from the said Benjamin Rainey to the said Timothy Reeves who is in actual possession of the premises together with all and singular the Buildings barns Stables and Water Rights . . . Witness whereof the said Benjamin Rainey hath hereunto set his hand and Seal the day and year above written. Signed Sealed and Delivered in the presence of Alexander McMillian Richard Bradcut.
